If you can’t already, learning to crochet will probably change your life. Not only can you fashion all manner of homespun crafts from a single ball of yarn, you have a highly artistic means of winding down and it can be done pretty much anywhere. Like with all of my creative pursuits, i’d never miss an opportunity to show off tell a family member I love them through the medium of DIY. I crocheted about a meter of chain stitches before painstakingly pinning it upon a Zara sweater to form her name. I then sewed down the yarn, albeit with great difficulty. What a commotion! If I wasn’t such a great sibling i’d have been half tempted to give up and settle with a simple ‘LOVE’ instead. I’m always keen to add a bit of twinkle so when I’d finished the arduous task of attaching the cord, I wove a length of rhinestone trim to a small curb chain using embroidery floss in different colours before stitching it around the collar.
From now on i’m going to stick to making pastel squares and doilies but I urge anyone with patience and a steady hand to give it a go because it’s a project with a very satisfying outcome.
