Gold Mine – Queensway

One thing Queensway definitely isn’t short of is a Chinese restaurant or two. Until Saturday I had only had the occasional Dim Sum lunch at Royal China. Luckily, thanks to my gorgeous friend Adrianna, this has changed for good. My first meal at Gold Mine, certainly won’t be my last.

Snazzy it certainly ain’t but the grilled meats are sublime and according to a very fussy chinese friend of mine, you will not find a better Cantonese duck in London. Personally, I thought the crispy pork belly stole the show – crunchy, salty, sweet, fatty, bite-sized chunks of ‘hell yeah,’ I could get excited about eating these on a daily basis.

If you’re looking for authenticity, then you’ll find it here. Its definitely worth sticking to the roasted meats as the menu is enormous and a little overwhelming. It can get a little crowded, but it’s inexpensive (Imperial students get a 10% discount) and discreet. making it the perfect incognito post hangover spot. JACKPOT!
