In my endless pursuit to amass conversation piece accessories, i’m constantly looking for something niche and interesting. Give me a recycled prayer mat, call it a clutch bag and i’ll whip out my wallet quicker than you can say ‘gap year’.
I’ve recently been introduced to bags by Delphine Delafon, a French-American designer who launched her line back in 2011. Each piece is unique and incorporate a plethora of textiles such as pexiglass, leather, kilim and suede which are entirely bespoke and one off. Clients can consider their options over a cup of tea whilst poring over swathes of fabric and trimmings at the designers studio. The bags will then be hand crafted by Delafon and her team at the workshop in Paris. Studs, snakeskin, neons and fringing means there is something for everyone. With a range of stockists in Paris and one in Dubai, the buyers undergo the same process of designing a selection for their stores. They’re not exactly a steal, retailing between 300 € and 800 € but you could spend triple the amount on something with a fraction of the charm. The only tricky part is choosing what you want.
